Junior Judo Classes
Wanganui Judo Club offers classes suitable for your child’s age and experience level. Our junior classes start at age 6, and continue through to age 15. Students aged 14 and older are given the opportunity to enter the senior class if they demonstrate skill and maturity.
Judo involves learning how to fall safely, throwing techniques, grappling, and control holds. Our classes are balanced between technique drills, exercise routines, sparring and games.
While the skills learned in Judo are applicable to self-defence, our instructors do not teach students “how to fight”. Instead, students learn important skills such as self-defence, discipline, respect and how to safely play with others. Judo does not involve any kicking, striking or weapons techniques.
